The Astros faced the Chicago White Sox in the series decider on the first day of their road game. After an early home run, Houston struggled to get anything going until a four-run seventh inning clinched the win and the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Yordan Alvarez got things rolling after just seven pitches when he hit a solo home run to right center after missing the first two games of the series, giving the Astros an early lead.

In the fifth inning, Chicago had a strong offensive inning when Luis Robert Jr. scored former Astros catcher Martin Maldanado with a double, followed by a single by Andrew Vaughn and a sacrifice fly by Andrew Benintendi, making the game 3-1.

Houston answered with four runs in the seventh inning, which began with an RBI single by Jose Altuve that scored Mauricio Dubon before singles by Alex Bregman and Alvarez tied the inning. Bregman scored on a throwing error that loaded the bases and then Jeremy Pena drew a walk with the bases loaded that scored Jake Meyers and tied the game at 5-3.

Josh Hader came in the ninth inning, sealed the deal and secured the series for the Astros with a 5-3 win.

BIG NUMBER: 4

The Astros scored four runs in the seventh inning after struggling to get on offense for much of the game to win the series.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Yordan Alvarez

After missing the first two games of the series, Alvarez delivered a 3-for-5 performance, including a home run and two RBIs.

UP NEXT: The Astros return home this weekend to host the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch at Minute Maid Park is set for 7:10 p.m. Friday night and can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles.
