Taylor Swift’s Tortured Poets Department is her best yet, with 11 WEEKS at the top of the Billboard 200 chart… but she’s still weeks away from breaking the record

Taylor Swift achieved her personal best on the Billboard 200 album charts this week.

The 34-year-old singer recorded her eleventh week at number one on the charts with her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” Billboard reported on Sunday.

This makes Swift’s single the longest at the top of the charts, after her previous LPs “1989” and “Fearless” also spent 11 weeks at number one.

The feat was revealed on the July 13 issue of the Billboard 200, and if the hugely popular record holds up, it will be her longest unbroken streak at the top of the album charts.

However, Taylor, who was booed in absentia during Ice Spice’s performance on Sunday, still has several weeks to go if she wants to beat another music icon.

Carole King currently holds the longest consecutive number one spot on the Billboard 200 for a solo artist, thanks to her legendary singer-songwriter album Tapestry.

According to Billboard, this 1971 album stayed at number one for an astonishing 15 weeks.

According to the publication, the last album by a woman to spend 11 weeks at number one was 1989. She also achieved this feat in 2014 and 2015, although not back to back.

But the last time a woman topped the charts for as many weeks in a row was in late 1992/early 1993, when Whitney Houston topped the Billboard 200 charts for eleven weeks in a row with her soundtrack to “Bodyguard.”

The soundtrack ultimately remained at number one in the charts for a total of 20 weeks without interruption.

Although King holds the record for a woman with 15 consecutive weeks, other women have spent many more weeks at number one without consecutive runs.

The outlet points out that if her latest album stays at number one for another week after its debut at the top on May 4, Taylor will become the first woman to spend at least 12 weeks at number one since Adele spent an incredible 24 consecutive weeks at number one with her album 21 in 2011 and 2012.

For the week ending July 4, The Tortured Poets Department grossed 114,000 album equivalent units, according to Luminate, down one percent from the previous week.

Billboard also points out that the increased sales may have supported the slightly declining streaming numbers for Swift’s album, as she had offered two CD variants of her album for pre-sale on her website in June, which quickly sold out.

Swift still has a few weeks to go if she wants to break Carole King’s record of 15 consecutive weeks at number one with her classic album Tapestry.

The two releases each contained the standard 16-song tracklist of the standard single edition plus another acoustic bonus track at the end, with one version containing Fortnight featuring Post Malone, while another included the song Fresh Out The Slammer.

Taylor recently delighted her fans on her Eras Tour by reviving an old song, Mary’s Song, for the first time in 16 years.

The song, which was the penultimate track on her self-titled debut album “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” from 2006, made a surprise reappearance at the hitmaker’s performance in Amsterdam on Saturday.

She had not previously performed the song live since she removed it from her schedule following a 2008 performance in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
