“Stop voting for stupid people”: Anger over Marjorie Taylor Greene failing American history test

Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia got into trouble because she got two out of eight people right when listing the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Greene, who faced heavy criticism earlier that day for falsely claiming that Donald Trump won her state of Georgia in 2020, recently posted a post about the age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

“The average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, was 44, but more than a dozen were 35 or younger: Thomas Jefferson: 33, John Hancock: 39, James Madison: 25, Alexander Hamilton: 21, James Monroe: 18, Aaron Burr: 20, Paul Revere: 41, George Washington: 44,” the lawmakers wrote.

Greene was confronted with a fact check by social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

“James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, Aaron Burr, Paul Revere and George Washington were not signers of the Declaration of Independence,” it states.

Users of the site also spoke up to correct the representative.

Travis Akers wrote: “6 of these 8 men did not sign the Declaration of Independence.”

@lisa_liberal replied: ““Remember, ladies and gentlemen, that Marjorie Taylor Greene is a US representative whose salary is paid by taxpayers.”

Then she added: “STOP VOTING FOR STUPID PEOPLE.”

@MamaSissieSays, reportedly a retired politics teacher, said: “Aside from the fact that Marjorie Taylor Greene is completely wrong about history (AGAIN)… claiming that the average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence was 44 is NOT boasting, considering the life expectancy of the Founders was only 64.”
