“The conversation was recorded”: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s new claim about Trump leads to brutal fact-check

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, an ally of Donald Trump, faced a brutal fact-checking on Sunday after claiming she “knew” the former president won Georgia’s 2020 election, which he lost to current President Joe Biden.

When she made the comment, Greene was promoting a pro-Trump boat event in her home state.

“The enthusiasm for President Trump at Lake Allatoona yesterday was unprecedented!,” she said Sunday. “I know he won Georgia in 2020, and after yesterday, I know he will win Georgia again in 2024!”

The comments probably didn’t go according to Greene’s plan.

@slayergoddess69 replied: “Unmatched? He lost in 2020.”

“You don’t have nearly as many supporters as you did 4 years ago. Not even close. And you’re bragging about 30 boats when you used to have hundreds? All these ‘flex’ photos are showing us in real time how little is left in your MAGA world,” the user added. “You’re being abused on social media. You’re literally being run out of town no matter where you go. Your opponent is befriending your voters.”

@ArtieVandelay1 said: “There were fewer than 10 boats with signs or flags.”

@franklinisbored has asked the social media site itself for a correction.

“Let’s let @CommunityNotes weigh in on this. Trump lost Georgia in 2020,” the user said. “In fact, he called the Georgia Secretary of State to find just enough votes to win. He asked him to rig the election! The conversation was recorded.”

@DrainTheTrumps said: “Only in an alternate culture universe did Trump win Georgia in 2020.”

“Don’t you remember him illegally begging for votes over the phone?” the user asked on Sunday. “This is a completely criminal matter. Google it!”

@mannylopez60110 added: “He lost in 2020 and he will lose in 2024.”
