Eurovision fans notice problem seconds after Olly Alexander’s performance

The grand finale of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is finally upon us – and 25 countries will take part.

This year, Sweden is hosting the contest after singer Loreen won in Liverpool last year. It is also the 50th anniversary of when Abba gave Sweden its first win with their song “Waterloo”.

One of the favorites to win this year is the Croatian Baby Lasagne with his song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”. The second favorite is the Israeli singer Eden Golan.

The 20 countries that will advance will be joined by the UK, Italy, France, Spain and Germany, known as the ‘Big Five’, who qualify automatically each year. Former Years and Years frontman Olly Alexander represented the UK tonight with his song Dizzy.

His brave and stirring performance had Eurovision fans sharing their thoughts on Twitter, with many noticing that he had a “problem” as soon as he started singing.

One fan commented: “I think Olly’s (UK) mic failed again like it did in rehearsal. I can only hope he did better for the judges because that honestly wasn’t his best performance #Eurovision.”

A second tweet read: “Didn’t like it, sounded like his mic wasn’t on. #olly#eurovision.”

A third fan commented: “Is it my TV or is Olly’s microphone broken? #Eurovision2024 #Eurovision #Eurovision2024.”

A fourth tweet read: “Olly’s singing isn’t that great here or maybe it’s the mic. Or both #Eurovision.”

A fifth commented: “Is there something wrong with the sound for Olly Alexander?”
