Princess Diana was shocked after King Charles gave a strange reaction to a report about her engagement.

The former Princess of Wales was left gushing when the media asked her about her wedding and Charles gave a stunned response about his love for his future bride.

In Diana: In Her Own Words, she said: “We had this horrific interview the day we announced our engagement. And this ridiculous (reporter) said, ‘Are you in love?’ I thought, what a blunt question. So I said, ‘Yes, of course we are,’ and Charles turned round and said, ‘Whatever love means.’ And that threw me completely. I thought, what a strange answer. It traumatised me.”

Charles proposed to Diana in 1981. It turns out that the current king didn’t make a grand gesture when he asked for her hand in marriage.

In a Channel 5 documentary called “Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding,” royal biographer Christopher Wilson said: “He didn’t put his arms around her or hug her or do any of the things we would do when we propose to the person we love. He called his mother just to say, ‘Now I’ve done it. You’ve asked me to marry someone and I’ve sorted it out.’ What he had done was he had finally found a wife.”
