For the first time in a year, women occupy the top five four times

Women dominate the top five of the Billboard 200 album chart as of July 13, with four of the top five tracks coming from female artists. It’s the first time in over a year that at least four of the top five have come from women or female-led artists.

Taylor Swift’s The “Tortured Poets” section reaches an 11th week at number 1, Megan Thee Stallion’s Megan debuts at number 3, Billie Eilish’s Hit me hard and soft is a no-mover at number 4 and Chappell Roan’s The rise and fall of a Midwestern princess reaches the top 5 for the first time and rises to 6-5. (Morgan Wallen is the only man in the top 5 as his former number 1 One after the other rises 3-2.)

On March 24, 2023, women last accounted for at least four of the top five spots on the Billboard 200. One after the other was No. 1, the all-female group TWICE debuted at No. 2 with To be readyMiley Cyrus’ Endless summer holidays bowed in third place, SZAs SOS fell 2-4 and Karol G’s Mañana is a beautiful place 3-5 submerged.

The Billboard 200 charts list the most popular albums of the week in the United States based on multimetric consumption, measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equal to one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription-based official on-demand audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new chart dated July 13, 2024 will be published in full on Billboard‘s website on July 9.
