Colorado Rockies Game No. 90: Brady Singer vs. Tanner Gordon

Colorado Rockies Game No. 90: Brady Singer vs. Tanner Gordon

On the day the All-Stars are announced, the Colorado Rockies will attempt to sweep the Kansas City Royals, which will also end their final home game of the first half. This series will be their first series win since winning two of three games against the Cleveland Guardians on May 27-29 at Coors Field, and if they pull off a sweep, it will be their first since the series against the Texas Rangers on May 10-12 (which marked the beginning of that thrilling seven-game winning streak…).

On the mound for the Rockies today is 26-year-old rookie right-hander Tanner Gordon, making his MLB debut. Gordon was acquired from the Atlanta Braves to Colorado in the Pierce Johnson trade last July along with Victor Vodnik. I won’t go into any more detail since Skyler Timmins did that here.

But Gordon will face veteran Royals right-hander Brady Singer (4-5, 3.05 ERA). In his last outing against the Tampa Bay Rays, Singer allowed just one run on three hits, three walks and five strikeouts in five innings, but the 5-1 loss also featured a 2:32 rain stoppage. Singer has only faced the Rockies once before – in a 2-0 Royals win at Kauffman Stadium – but this is his first time pitching at Coors Field.

Can the Rockies triumph today?
