“Bazil the Acolyte is everything we love about Star Wars”

Although the character has taken a back seat following the Jedi massacre on Khofar last week, everyone’s favorite Jedi tracker Bazil is back. The Acolyte and more enchanting than ever! While the Jedi Master recovers from the loss of his team, Bazil sniffs out clues and tinkers with Pip on board Sol’s ship. In the process, he manages to find Osha’s (Amanda Stenberg) PIP droid back online and unmask her twin, who was hiding on the ship after taking Osha’s place at the end of last week’s episode. In doing so, Bazil delivers many sweet moments in the latest episode of Leslye Headland‘S Prequel series that serves as a reminder that the most entertaining part of the Star Wars universe is the galaxy’s lovable alien buddies.

A member of the Tynnan species, played by an experienced Star Wars actor Hassan Taj, Bazil is first introduced in The Acolyte Episode 5 as a resource to track down Jedi Master Kelnacca (Joonas Suotamo) before Mae can kill him on Khofar. The tracker successfully leads Master Sol’s (Lee Jung-jae) task force to the Wookiee Jedi’s residence, but he disappears as soon as The Acolyte‘S Stranger arrives and only reappears towards the end of the episode to catch Manny Jacintos Sith steal Osha. This discovery allows Bazil to take a more prominent role in this week’s episode, with the antics of the mischievous little Tynnan reminiscent of some of the silliest creatures in the Star Wars franchise.

The Acolyte continues the franchise’s offbeat legacy by allowing Bazil to bring his own quirky touch to the series. In a show whose Jedi assassinations and ruthless Sith The Acolyte one of the darkest entries in Star Wars, Bazil combines the lovable characteristics of the cuddliest characters in the galaxy to provide some much-needed comic relief. He waddles and works with technology like a Jawa, while his brief attack on Mae in this week’s episode seems like a slapstick homage to the Ewoks’ clumsy punches during Return of the Jedi final act. Bazil’s tracking skills also combine with the primal senses of creatures from Star Wars’ animated side, such as Star Wars Rebels‘ Loth cats, although Bazil fortunately plays a more central role in the last chapter of The Acolyte‘s story.

With their ultra-cuddly looks and fierce determination, Star Wars’ collection of adorable creatures is entertaining enough on its own, but it’s Star Wars that feels the most like Star Wars. when the franchise brings together its strangest aliens with the galaxy’s greatest heroes. Bazil’s partnership with the Jedi is reminiscent of similar alliances between silly aliens and intrepid heroes throughout the history of the galaxy, with examples such as Jar Jar Binks’ (Ahmed Best) Support from Qui-Gon Jinns (Liam Neeson) mission on Naboo that cements this bond in the prequel era. In recent Star Wars history, the relationship between The Mandalorian‘S Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda continues to demonstrate the iconic potential that comes from combining enchanting Star Wars species with conflicting human characters.

These lovable supporting characters may not always occupy a crucial position in their respective Star Wars stories, but Her presence provides much-needed relief for characters who often take themselves too seriously. In a galaxy where characters tread so many winding paths of conflicting passions, deception, and betrayal, the presence of so many entertaining species emphasizes the enduring warmth that can be found in a constantly warring galaxy.

While Bazil’s role in The Acolyte has been small so far, the Tynnan doesn’t need excessive screen time to make his mark. The inclusion of Bazil in the series is a reminder of the Star Wars universe’s reliance on adorable creatures throughout its epic history, and celebrates a legacy of entertaining collaboration between the galaxy’s cutest species and their Jedi counterparts, as well as the amusing antics of the Tracker in The Acolyte‘S The latest episode highlights the endearing, absurdist fun that forms the backbone of the Star Wars franchise. Only time will tell if Bazil can make audiences smile even more in the future, but for now Master Sol’s furry friend has done more than enough to bring honor to the galaxy that this world has learned to love.
