Fans of Stranger Things have a new update on the production of the final season of the series. Production of new episodes began in January.

Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Cara Buono, Noah Schnapp, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, Maya Hawke and Priah Ferguson, the series follows the residents of a small town in the 1980s and how they deal with the supernatural events that surround them.

Co-creator Ross Duffer posted a progress update on Instagram and the cast and crew are halfway through production on season 5. Check out his post below.

A cast member, Maya Hawke, also gave an update on the production of the Netflix series. According to Deadline, she said the following:

“Our showrunners Matt and Ross have a lot of responsibility. They have a fantastic writing team, but they are very dedicated. They write a lot and care a lot about the quality of what they’re shooting. It takes a long time to write each season and it takes a long time to shoot it.

“We’re basically making eight films. The episodes are very long.”

She confirmed that it would take a year to shoot the entire eight-episode season for the fifth season of Stranger Things.

The premiere date for the return of the Netflix series will be announced later.

What do you think? Are you happy about the return of Stranger Things? Do you plan to watch the fifth season?
