Scottish singer ‘honoured’ to perform at Russell Crowe’s party after virtual duet during lockdown

A musical star playing the character Russell Crowe had the performance of a lifetime after being asked to perform at Hollywood star Les Misérables’ indoor garden party in Paris.

The actor’s indoor garden party began in 2009, when Crowe performed outside a London pub owned by the late talk show icon Michael Parkinson.

He is bringing the show to the UK later this month, but after singing a duet virtually with Pilton-born Jeff Leyton during the Covid lockdown, the two men were keen to meet in real life.

Jeff, who now lives in Germany, was invited to sing two songs at Saturday night’s show at La Cigale.

He said: “Russell Crowe brought the roof down in Paris. I was honoured to be asked to sing two songs at the Indoor Garden Party. This is a show you absolutely cannot miss.”

Leyton, who played the lead role of Jean Valjean in the stage version of Les Misérables for over 14 years, later shared a selfie with the A-list celebrity backstage.

Fans were clamoring for more of the couple after their lockdown recording of “The Confrontation” from the hit 2020 West End musical went viral.

Crowe played Valjean’s arch-enemy Javert in the big screen version of the musical, which starred Hugh Jackman in the title role. The video has garnered millions of hits from fans of both men around the world.
