Chris Pratt’s former stunt double Tony McFarr dies at 47

Tony McFarr was Chris Pratt’s stunt double in two Jurassic World films and in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).

Tony McFarr, a Hollywood stuntman who worked as Chris Pratt’s stunt double in the Jurassic World Films and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2has died. He was 47.

McFarr was found dead on Monday, May 13, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida confirmed to PEOPLE. Although an investigation has already taken place, the cause of death is pending the results of a toxicology report.

TMZ was the first to report on McFarr’s death, noting that he died unexpectedly at his home outside Orlando, according to his mother, Donna.

According to IMDb, McFarr worked as a stuntman on a total of 60 productions between 2011 and 2022; he worked as a stunt double on Bones and blockbusters like 2014 Planet of the Apes: Revolution And The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 1 before meeting 44-year-old Pratt for the first time on the set of “The Jurassic World.

McFarr played Pratt’s stunt double in his 2016 film Passengers, 2017 Protector of the Galaxy Continuation and 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen KingdomHe also worked on Marvel films such as Captain America: Civil War And Ant-Man and the Wasp and also served as Jon Hamm’s stunt double in the 2018 comedy label.

Pratt shared a photo of McFarr in the costume of his character Star-Lord on the Protector of the Galaxy already settled on Instagram in 2016.

In the post, he noted that filming had been completed on the second film in the trilogy. “Here’s me and my stuntman Tony McFarr (also Tommy Harper stunt coordinator and our first AD Lars Winther) on set,” Pratt wrote in the caption. “I’ve been working with Tony since Jurassic World. Love you, buddy! Have fun packing!”

McFarr was also featured as an actor in six roles between 2007 and 2016 in episodes of the series Burning notice, OneTreeHill, Army women, Graceland and the CBS MacGyver Reboot series and the 2016 film cellMost recently he was in Hollywood for stunts in the film “The The Conjuring: The devil made me do it.
