Police take swift action and save cyber fraudsters in Haryana from over Rs 100 crore in last 6 months | Chandigarh News

In Haryana alone, a whopping Rs 125 crore was saved from falling into the hands of cyber criminals in the first six months of this year.

According to the Cybercrime Department of Haryana Police, the maximum amount of over Rs 45 crore was blocked in Gurugram. In Panchkula, the amount blocked was nearly Rs 10 crore.

Speaking to The Indian Express about the mechanism to refund the money to victims of cyber fraud, OP Singh, Deputy Director General of Police (Cyber) of Haryana said, “Streamlining the process of disbursing the fraudulent amount of money to victims of cyber crime is of utmost importance. By leveraging the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal and avoiding unnecessary delays, we can ensure timely justice and assistance to the victims of cyber fraud. This approach underlines our commitment to efficiency and victim support in the digital age.”

ADGP Singh explained that it is extremely important to report cases of cyber fraud promptly as it prevents amounts from falling into the hands of fraudsters.

Meanwhile, the Punjab and Haryana High Court recently stated that victims of cyber fraud do not need an FIR to get their blocked money back.

The Registrar General of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has stressed in a letter to all district and session judges in the two states that in cases of cybercrime, “no FIR registration is required for the recovery of the amount obtained by fraud”.

According to police, in 60 percent of cases, there were difficulties in releasing the blocked amount because the court insisted on an FIR.
