The “Summer in Dublin” event series starts on Sunday evening

A series of free outdoor summer events starts in Dublin on Sunday evening.

On Sunday 7 July, “Summer in Dublin” begins at 4pm and features free music, art and dance performances in the capital.

Impromptu performances will take place every Sunday throughout the city through August 25, including events on South Ann Street and Drury Street on the South Side. Events will also take place on Liffey Street, Capel Street, North Earl Street at the NYC Portal, and in Wolfe Tone Park on the North Side.

The series includes musical performances by groups such as the New Orleans-style New Brass Kings, the three-piece traditional band Sin Deri Si and the Latin group Havana Club Trio.

There will also be dance performances by Irish, Bolivian and Latin American dancers and aerial acrobats.

Local musicians such as Sam Clifford, Sarah Fitzsimon and Adam Grimes will also take part in the upcoming series, while visual artists will create murals and vibrant street art over the next six weeks.

The series of events is organised by the Dublin Town business group in collaboration with the City Coordination Office of Dublin City Council and various local businesses.

Dublin Town CEO Richard Guiney said the upcoming series would help celebrate Dublin’s cultural diversity while promoting local artists and musicians.

“With a mix of music, dance and art, the pop-up activities will not only celebrate Dublin’s cultural diversity, but will also provide a chance to come together as a community and support local talent,” Guiney said in a statement.

Karl Mitchell, Dublin City Council’s director of services, said the series would encourage people to experience “everything good” about Dublin.

“There is so much to do in Dublin city centre for people of all ages,” said Mitchel. “Summer in Dublin has been organised specifically to encourage people to experience all the best about the city at this time of year.”
