McDonald’s has confirmed that it will launch a $5 meal deal on Tuesday, June 25.
The move has been expected since mid-May, but the fast-food giant is only now announcing the details as part of a “Summer of Value” campaign.
The $5 offer is available for a limited time and includes a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, four Chicken McNuggets and a small soft drink.
But the fine print in the press release states that McDouble meals may cost $6 at select restaurants in California and other locations, including Nevada, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii and Guam.
The promotion also includes “Free Fries Fridays” for McDonald’s app users. With a minimum purchase of $1, they will receive a free medium portion of French fries every Friday for the rest of the year.
Some Southern California franchises will have their own promotions, such as $1.49 soft drink specials, according to an email attached to the press release.
In the fine print, the press release states: “Local deals and offers may vary because McDonald’s franchisees are independent business owners who set their own prices.”
Also on Thursday, Wendy’s announced that it will give its app users a free small Frosty with the purchase of a Biggie Bag through June 30. Like McDonald’s offering, the Biggie Bags contain a sandwich, four Nuggs, fries and a small soft drink.
Burger King launched its own $5 “Your Way Meal” last week, which also includes a sandwich, chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.
