Karl Urban took over the role of Leonard McCoy in the Star Trek Reboot films directed/produced by JJ Abrams. The actor delivered a convincing portrayal of the character, embodying the aura of DeForest Kelley while also making the role his own. Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher has played a role in the last season of The young His tumor worsened, which had serious consequences. His CIA friend Joe Kessler, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, was a suspicious figure and the new episode confirmed a major theory that fans had put forward over the years.

Episode 6 confirmed that Kessler is a product of Butcher’s imagination, and showrunner Eric Kripke revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Kessler represents the monstrous side of Butcher. He also compared him to Homelander (as opposite sides of the same coin), with both struggling with being human/monster. Kripke said:

Both Butcher and Homelander (played by Antony Starr) struggle with whether they are human or monster in very different ways. Kessler represents the monster side and Becca represents the human side of Butcher. These two sides are at war with each other, but they are all Butchers.

The twist was a huge revelation moment for Butcher and this new realization will surely influence his future decisions. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the imaginary Becca and Kessler from now on. The first 6 episodes of the fourth season of The young are streamed on Prime Video.
