I think there are moments of Shatner in Pine’s performance, but they’re subtle (the way he eats the apple, the way he sits in the captain’s chair), but both he and Urban are great. Urban’s damn look when Spock gets beamed out in Beyond was perfect.

There’s so much going on in these four pictures alone. He steals the show from every scene in Lord of the Rings… his Dredd is terrifying and perfect. We deserved more of his McCoy. (Was also the best Borne opponent.) I’m glad he’s getting the attention he deserves.

Urban’s McCoy provided the intensity and pathos that fans needed to identify with him and support his character. Despite being an IP franchise with a gross of $2.26 billion (via The Numbers), his performance in it is still appreciated by fans to this day and they still want him and Pine to return in a new role. Eric Kripke explains how Billy Butcher fights his inner demons after the big twist
Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher has played a role in the last season of The young His tumor worsened, which had serious consequences. His CIA friend Joe Kessler, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, was a suspicious figure and the new episode confirmed a major theory that fans had put forward over the years.

Spoilers for episode 6 of the fourth season of The Boys
Episode 6 confirmed that Kessler is a product of Butcher’s imagination, and showrunner Eric Kripke revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Kessler represents the monstrous side of Butcher. He also compared him to Homelander (as opposite sides of the same coin), with both struggling with being human/monster. Kripke said:
Both Butcher and Homelander (played by Antony Starr) struggle with whether they are human or monster in very different ways. Kessler represents the monster side and Becca represents the human side of Butcher. These two sides are at war with each other, but they are all Butchers.
The twist was a huge revelation moment for Butcher and this new realization will surely influence his future decisions. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the imaginary Becca and Kessler from now on. The first 6 episodes of the fourth season of The young are streamed on Prime Video.
