Travis Kelce looks emotional while Taylor Swift nods to him in the mashup

Travis Kelce seems to get emotional over Taylor Swift’s recent reference to him during her Eras show!

The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs player appeared moved to see Swift perform a mashup of “Mary’s Song,” “So High School,” and “Everything Has Changed” during her recent performance in Amsterdam on Saturday, July 6, at the Johan Cruijff Arena, and was even seen wiping his eyes several times during the performance.

In a video posted by a fan account on X (formerly Twitter), Kelce stood in the stands and filmed his girlfriend’s performance with his phone before slowly swaying to Swift’s mashup performance. At one point, as Swift sang the sweet lyrics of “Everything Has Changed,” “‘Cause all I know is that we said hello/ And your eyes look like you’re coming home/ All I know is a simple name/ And everything has changed,” the tight end was seen wiping his face and eyes.

Kelce then clapped his hands above his head and continued to watch Swift perform the mashup.

Seconds later, Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, who had also attended the singer’s last show in Amsterdam with her husband, walked up to Kelce and appeared to check on him as he wiped his face and eyes once again.

Towards the end of the mashup, as Swift sang the closing lines of her 2006 song “Mary’s Song” – “I’ll by 87, you’ll be 89 / I’ll still look at you like the stars that shine / In the sky, oh my my my” – Kelce clapped again with his arms raised above his head as fans in the arena cheered loudly.

The lyrics of “Mary’s Song” have taken on new meaning since the singer and Kelce started dating, as his jersey number is 87 and both Kelce and Swift were born in 1989 (the singer’s 2014 album is also titled 1989). And of course, “So High School” is presumably about Swift’s relationship with the tight end, meaning the mashup itself seems to be a nod to her boyfriend.

Following the final show in Amsterdam, Kelce and Swift – who sparked dating rumors in September 2023 and made their romance public in October 2023 – were spotted by fans leaving the arena together for the second time, having done so the night before.

In a video posted to TikTok by a concertgoer, the couple emerged from backstage as Swift waved to fans in the stands while Kelce raised his hands in the air to cheer on the crowd before extending his hand to his girlfriend. The couple then looked at each other lovingly before leaving the arena hand in hand.

During Swift’s second performance in Amsterdam on Friday, July 5, she again paid tribute to Kelce by striking her archer pose, recreating the NFL star’s signature pose. Swift also changed the lyrics from “Karma” to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs” – which she usually does when Kelce attends her shows. In fact, she made the “Karma” lyric change again during the July 6 show.
