Taylor Swift delighted her fans in Amsterdam when she performed a song about her relationship with Travis Kelce while the Kansas City Chiefs tight end proudly looked on
Taylor Swift sent her fans into a frenzy last night in Amsterdam when she belted out a rare song that fans believe is a reference to her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
The pop sensation took the stage on July 6 and treated the packed house to an acoustic medley that included “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” from her eponymous debut album, “So High School” by The Tortured Poets Department (rumored to be by Travis) and fan favorite “Everything Has Changed” from the album “Red.”
The crowd went wild during the Mary’s Song portion of the performance. The song tells the story of two childhood sweethearts growing old together, with lyrics like, “I’ll be 87, you’ll be 89 / I’ll still be looking at you like the stars that shine / In the sky, oh my goodness.”
Since Taylor started dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce nearly a year ago, this song has taken on a new meaning. Notably, Travis is wearing the number 87 jersey while Taylor mentions the year 1989, which represents both her birth year and the title of her hit album, and it’s also the year Travis was born, reports the Mirror US.
When Taylor performed the song live for the first time in 16 years, her joy was unmistakable. Fans have been raving about the “Travis Kelce mega mash-up” ever since, and Swifties across social media raved about Taylor’s heartfelt musical tribute while Travis watched from the stands.
Fans are going wild over Taylor’s recent performances and are convinced her song choice is a nod to her romance with Travis. One fan gushed on social media: “You can’t convince me that invisible string theory doesn’t work because it’s been a year since Travis went into the eras with a friendship bracelet and a dream and now she’s fucking singing Mary’s song that she wrote like 18 years ago with his football number in it.”
Another expressed his dismay: “I think we don’t talk enough about the fact that most of us genuinely thought she would never play Mary’s song because she is *so* serious about it, and she just sang it for Travis.”
A third fan was blown away by the mashup: “MARY’S SONG x SO HIGH SCHOOL x EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED? ! ? ! ? THE TRAVIS KELCE MEGA MASHUP WE ARE NOT OKAY TAYLOR SWIFT IS SO IN LOVE.”
And a fourth shared their emotional reaction: “I’m sobbing because I just remembered the hidden message in Mary’s song ‘Sometimes love is forever’ and Taylor singing it tonight just proves that she loves Travis so much and can see the two of them staying together FOREVER.”
The lovebirds will soon celebrate their first anniversary. Their story began when the NFL star attended Swift’s show in Kansas City but failed to exchange numbers with her.
