Boxing for Books: Life is a Struggle and Live Music in Belfast on July 19

Belfast Public Library is delighted to announce ‘Boxing for Books’ in association with the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame. This event will take place on 19 July at 6pm at St Patrick’s Hall, 31 East Hughes Street, Belfast and promises to be an entertaining evening for all who attend.

The highlight of the event is the legendary performance “Life is a Fight” with Brendan Heaney as John L. Sullivan. Heaney’s portrayal takes the audience back to the era of bare-knuckle boxing and offers an insight into the life and times of the sport’s most famous figures.

Guests can also enjoy live music from the talented Jack Castle. Complimentary appetizers, desserts and a bar are available.

Tickets for the event are $25.00 each, with proceeds benefiting the Belfast Public Library and supporting the library’s capital project, “Building a Better Belfast, Brick by Book.”

“Brendan last performed this show in Belfast seven years ago and it was very popular,” said Belfast Public Library Board Member Patty Preston. “We decided to bring John L. Sullivan back to Belfast for the 200th anniversary and are delighted to be able to present his show along with the music of Jack Castle for a great evening. They both volunteer their time and talent to the event and we are grateful for their support!”

Tickets can be purchased via Zeffy at https://bit.ly/BoxingForBooks or the library (585-365-2072).
