Gwyneth Paltrow taught me to stop being so “grumpy”

Chris Martin says Gwyneth Paltrow always scolded him for being “grumpy” towards her daughter.

The Coldplay frontman was married to Gwyneth between 2003 and 2016; the couple have 17-year-old daughter Apple and 15-year-old son Moses.

And Chris said he struggled with his own “sensitivity” shortly after Apple was born, which caused him to become “grumpy” and “sulky.”

He said: “I believe sensitivity can be a superpower, especially when you’re in the song business or comedy business and you’re trying to connect your heart with someone else’s heart.

“But I noticed that my sensitivity was coming out in a really bad way with the rest of the band. I would get really petulant or grumpy or sulky in the studio.

“Or if someone didn’t play the way I wanted them to, I would be a real idiot.”

“When I really realised it was with my daughter. I realised that she was so attuned to me being a little unpredictable that she had to come to terms with it. I’m still trying to work on that because I don’t want her to feel like she can’t be herself if her dad gets upset.

“I had to be shown this, but I am really grateful.”

The “My Universe” singer also admitted that it was Gwyneth who helped him process his emotions in a healthier way and change his behavior.

When asked who alerted him to his bad mood during an appearance on the podcast “You Made It Weird,” Chris replied, “Her mother.

“She’s like my big sister now and there are a few people in my life that I’m grateful for who say, ‘Maybe you should work on this a little bit and then maybe your whole life will improve.'”
