Cambridge Shelter Corp. Golf Tournament is ready to start

The annual Golf for a Cause fundraiser will take place on August 12 at the historic Galt Country Club

The Cambridge Shelter Corp. (CSC) is back on the golf course for its annual “Golf For a Cause” event.

On August 12, the CSC will open the Galt Country Club to non-members and invite people to the green of the historic golf course.

“Galt Country Club opens its doors to golfers, sponsors and friends of CSC and YWCA Cambridge for our exclusive Classic Golf Tournament. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a day of golf while helping the most vulnerable in our community,” the shelter said in a Facebook post.

All funds raised at the event will benefit the shelter’s emergency shelter program, which welcomes hundreds of guests each night.

Operated by CSC, Bridge’s Shelter is one of the most efficient and successful emergency shelters in the region when it comes to housing individuals.

“Over the past few years, CSC has seen a tremendous increase in the number of seniors seeking assistance at The Bridges. CSC creates and delivers support programs based on a housing-first model and continues to support individuals as they re-establish their community ties and become able to live independently,” the charity wrote on its event page.

Participants enjoy 18 holes of fun-filled golf on the scenic Grand River course.

Organizers point out that players can arrive early to practice their swing, compete in a putting contest and purchase raffle tickets to win prizes.

The event begins at 11:30 am with registration, followed by a BBQ lunch before tee-off begins at 1:00 pm.
