Harry Styles’ former primary school teacher said she was “touched” by the musician’s kind tribute after he dedicated a song to her at his show at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old musician, who recently released his new album “Harry’s House”, returned to the north of England for an emotional comeback tour in front of 74,000 fans.

During the show at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Styles spoke to the crowd and told fans that he had heard that some of the teachers from his old primary school were among the audience he was trying to find.

Styles then paid tribute to his teacher Mrs Vernon and other staff at Hermitage Primary School in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

“I just want to thank you for everything during these formative years. Thank you very much,” he said.

“It means a lot to me that you are here tonight. You have truly been a wonderful teacher. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means a lot to me that you are here. I dedicate this next song to you,” he said before launching into a rendition of Canyon Moon.

Unfortunately, Ms Vernon was not in the audience. However, her colleague, Ms Bailey, was there and her face was shown on the screen during the award ceremony.

Vernon spoke about the kind gesture after the show and later appeared on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show to reflect on her experience teaching Styles.

“I taught him when he was four and five and he was adorable. He was a bit cheeky and a monkey and he had lots of friends so a lot of his personality that you see now was evident from a young age,” Vernon explained.

She added: “But yes, he has been brilliant at everything, all the teachers here are so proud of him and so excited about him and everything he has achieved. Thank you Harry for this beautiful message, I was very touched by it.”

Styles attended Hermitage Primary School in Holmes Chapel before moving on to Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. At 16, he auditioned for X Factor and sealed his fate, becoming the legendary pop star he is today.

During a high-energy show, Styles also talked about how excited he is to be so close to his hometown.

“It’s a great pleasure to be here at my home show. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to play here tonight and how much it means to all of you for coming,” he said.

He continued, “Recording these last few albums has been some of the happiest times of my life, and some of the happiest times of my life are right around the corner. So it feels pretty perfect for me to be playing these songs for you here tonight.”
