Bridgerton song that could be the first dance at your wedding: How All I Want was written

Bridgerton song that could be the first dance at your wedding: How All I Want was written

Selecting and placing orchestral covers for the Netflix series is a complex process that begins with what season three producer Jess Brownell describes as “a playlist of maybe 100 or 200 orchestral versions of pop songs,” which is then whittled down to about a dozen standout pieces with input from directors, producers and Netflix.

According to The Economist, this has led to a rise in the number of classical musicians recording covers of pop songs, booking string quartets for weddings and hosting live events that combine classical and pop music.

After releasing the first episodes of the third season last month, Spotify is looking for Bridgerton Content increased by 1,700 percent, while the creation of Bridgerton-related playlists on Spotify saw an increase of almost 400 percent in the US.

“It was so exciting to see the Bridgerton “The sound has solidified and become so popular,” says the series’ composer, Kris Bowers.

“It was really an experiment in the beginning, but now that we’ve been doing it for a few years, there’s this huge ocean of classic cover versions of pop songs, either because so many people have been inspired by them. Bridgerton or people who do one in the hope of getting on the show.”

After interpretations of hits like BTS“Dynamite,” “pov” by Ariana Grande and “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift, Season 3 ends with an orchestral cover of “All I Want,” the franchise’s first original song.

The cover is reminiscent of the series’ now signature sound (this time played by a string quintet rather than a quartet, Bowers notes) and reflects the pop sensibility of songs that regularly feature on Bridgerton – which is a coincidence, because the songwriters of “All I Want” didn’t even know they were writing for the hit show.

We really wanted this song to almost survive social media and feel timeless, sound beautiful and express something really heartfelt.

“The task was to write a love song for a Netflix project that could serve as the first dance at a wedding,” says Rogét Chahayed, who wrote “All I Want” in one day with his friends and fellow songwriters Wesley Singerman, Taylor Dexter and Nicole Cohen.

“It can be quite pressured to write to a specific prompt, but halfway through the session we all looked at each other and agreed that it sounded like a song you would want to hear at a memorable event you share with your family and friends.”

According to Bowers an original Bridgerton The song has been in the works for years; it was part of an attempt to create one for last year’s spin-off series Queen Charlottebut it was not successful.

For Bridgerton For fans, “All I Want” is worth the wait: The entire track features detailed vocals from Tori Kelly; the lyrics are a litany of comparisons for perfect matches and long-lasting love.

“A lot of people (writing music today) try to be aware of TikTok and trends and things like that,” says Chahayed. “But we really wanted this song to almost outlive social media and feel timeless, sound beautiful and express something really heartfelt.”

So why, with all the work that went into “All I Want,” is the orchestral cover played during the credits of the final episode, a section that is regularly cut for the viewer through Netflix previews, instead of during an important Bridgerton Scene? It’s all about timing.

According to Kamps, the initiative was “primarily led by the Netflix music team and the Netflix marketing team” Bridgerton Wedding event earlier this year.

“Everyone loved the song so much that they wanted to try and work it into the actual show,” he explains. “Kris then did a great job with the cover and we looked for a place (in the show) that made sense, but we had already found all these other places for music that we love. So now it’s a nice way to end the season.”

Thankfully, fans who want to hear “All I Want” in its entirety — both the Kelly version and the orchestral cover — can listen to it on the season soundtrack, now streaming on all digital platforms.
