Every former DFW athlete on the Texas A&M College World Series squad

Texas A&M is in the finals of the College World Series for the first time in program history and will face No. 1 seed Tennessee (58-12) in a best-of-three championship series starting Saturday.

This meeting also marks the second consecutive All-SEC final and the third in the last four years.

It should come as no surprise that Texas A&M’s roster is full of athletes from Texas high schools – most of them come from either the Dallas or Houston area.

Here are the former DFW High School standouts on Texas A&M’s College World Series squad:

OF, Flower Mound Marcus

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound freshman has been a reliable contributor for the Aggies all season, with a .266 batting average, 40 RBIs, 11 home runs and 24 walks.

In his final season for Flower Mound, Marcus Sorrell hit .347 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 28 runs scored as a fielder and had a 1.05 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 46.2 innings pitched on the mound. He was signed by The Dallas Morning News in 2023.

Interesting fact: Both of his grandfathers – Billy Sorrell and Tom Griffin – played in the MLB.

Ryan Prager

LHP, Hillcrest

Prager, a redshirt sophomore, has been outstanding on the mound for Texas A&M this season. He owns a record of 9-1 with a 2.88 ERA and 118 strikeouts. In his last start, Prager held Kentuck hitless until the seventh inning, helping the Aggies win 5-1.

As a freshman for A&M, Prager made nine starts in 10 appearances, striking out 37 batters and posting a 5.02 ERA. He received a medical redshirt in 2023.

At Hillcrest, Prager had a record of 9-2 with a 0.44 ERA, 136 strikeouts and just six walks in 63.0 innings in his final season in 2021. He was signed by The news in 2021.

Zach Frye

Keller Timber Creek

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound freshman was a standout at Keller Timber Creek, posting a 2.43 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 48 innings in his final season in 2023.
