In AMC’s The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride talked about how long “The Book of Carol” was secretly in the game.

We do not want to revisit any ugliness from the past – especially not with AMCs Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol)-actor The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol hits our screens on Sunday, September 29th – it’s still hard to forget all the ugliness at the beginning and even during the first season, as many people made a lot of assumptions about why McBride wasn’t in the series from the start. In many cases, Reedus became the target of many ‘Caryl’ fans’ ire. But now? It’s a huge love fest! In fact, earlier today, TWD’s social media account posted a clip of the interview the two gave, revealing what went into keeping Carol’s return a secret and how long McBride’s involvement had been in play.

In conversation with Mr. Feelgood to support his film The BikersReedus revealed that he has a number in mind for how long he could see himself playing Daryl Dixon – and added what keeps him coming back about the spin-off series. “I think maybe another six or seven years. The ‘Daryl Dixon’ spin-off gave me the opportunity to take the show in a different direction than the original show. I didn’t want to do the same show again in a different place. I wanted to reinvent it. And they let me, along with the other like-minded people, invent something new. So it feels fresh to me. It’s in a different language. It’s shot differently. It’s not really about zombies and who gets bitten this week, it’s totally different. So as long as I keep reinventing it, it’s fun,” Reedus revealed.

The fact that the series is set abroad and represents the country where it is filmed in a unique way is an important factor for Reedus. “We went to Paris and we didn’t want to make an American show and have it set in a European country without it reflecting the place where we filmed it. So we wanted the French to watch the show and feel like it was their show too. And that worked. The French love the show. So I’m excited for them to see season two,” added Reedus.

During the first season of AMC & AMC+ The Walking Dead: Daryl DixonDaryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and tries to figure out how and why he got there. The series follows his journey through a devastated but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. During his journey, however, the connections he makes along the way complicate his ultimate plan. The new season picks up where the first season left off and follows Daryl and Carol (McBride), both of whom face old demons as she struggles to find her boyfriend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension in the nest. Also, Genet’s (Anne-Marie Charrier) movement is gaining momentum and putting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for the future of France.

The stars of the second season are Reedus, McBride, Charrier, Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi and Eriq Ebouaney. We already learned in November 2023 that Manish Dayal (The resident) was cast as Ash, a Boston engineer who moved into the family’s weekend home in Maine after the apocalypse hits. Ash lives on a strict schedule based mostly on his daily flights in a converted single-engine plane and mysterious visits to his backyard greenhouse. Showrunner David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason RichmanAnd Steve Squillante join Reedus & McBride as executive producers.
