Before Olivia Culpo, these four famous couples got married in Rhode Island. Here’s a look.

When it comes to a fairytale wedding, there is no place like Rhode Island.

The venues in the Ocean State are nothing short of spectacular – couples can choose from mansions, historic churches, water views, vineyards and more when planning their big day.

Maybe that’s why the country’s smallest state has hosted some major star-studded weddings, like the wedding of former Miss Universe and Rhode Island native Olivia Culpo and NFL star Christian McCaffrey, which took place in the state this weekend.

In honor of the occasion, here’s a quick look at some other famous couples who chose Rhode Island for their wedding.

Venue: Belcourt Castle

A truly star-studded affair: Five years ago, Jennifer Lawrence chose Belcourt Castle, owned by Alex & Ani founder Carolyn Rafaelian, when she married art gallery director Cooke Maroney. Although the event made national headlines and a crowd flocked to the gate to get dressed up, no pictures from the wedding are publicly available. What we do know is that the guest list included celebrities like Adele, Kris Jenner, Cameron Diaz, and others. Lawrence has shared few details from the event. First — that she was mostly worried about her guests being cold during the reception. And second — that at the rehearsal dinner, she gave her co-star from several films, Robert De Niro, the green light to leave early.

“I looked over and saw Bob, who didn’t know anyone and was kind of wandering around, and I immediately thought, ‘No, that’s not what he wants to do. I don’t want him here,'” Lawrence recalled to E! News. “So I went over and whispered, ‘Go home,’ and he was nice — he talked to my parents and was polite — but I said, ‘Go.'”
