Ariana Grande reacts to viral ‘voice change’ video

Ariana Grande has commented on changes in the way she speaks after a viral clip went viral demonstrating her changed tone.

The 30-year-old singer was recently a guest on the podcast Podcrushed, hosted by You Actor Penn Badgley, who starred in Grande’s latest music video for her single “The Boy Is Mine”.

In one part of the interview, the two discuss the recording of Grande’s album together with co-hosts Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari Eternal sunshine.

At first, Grande seems to speak in a deeper voice before adopting a higher pitch as she says, “I’ve written a lot, and there may be more. At some point I’d like to do a deluxe album.”

“The voice change??” wrote TikTok user @scatsplat, posting the clip, which now has over 7.8 million views.

In the comments, viewers shared their thoughts on Grande’s changing voice.

One person said, “GLINDA LET HER GO,” referring to Grande’s role in the live-action film of Evil which is due out this November.

“I switch to my customer service voice at work,” joked another person.

Someone else added: “How did that just happen??”

“It’s like Paris Hilton with her voices,” commented a fourth person.

Now Grande herself has explained in the comments section that she speaks like this to keep her voice healthy.

She says it’s a matter of “habit (of speaking like that for two years) and also the health of the voice.”

“I intentionally change my vocal range (high/low) often depending on how much I sing. I’ve always done it that way, BYE,” she wrote.

Elsewhere in the interview, Grande also spoke about her experiences as a child star on Nickelodeon, saying she’s now thought a little about her own “relationship with (Nickelodeon).”
