The Boys’ Firecracker “inspired by Marjorie Taylor Greene”

The Boys’ Firecracker “inspired by Marjorie Taylor Greene”

Season four of Prime Video The young has introduced a new right-wing superhero named Firecracker, and creator Eric Kripke revealed that her inspiration comes from well-known Republican politicians Majorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert.

The satirical crime comedy is about a group of hero hunters, including Billy Butcher, played by Star TrekKarl Urban and Frenchie (Tomer Capone), who turns out to be bisexual, try to defeat the corrupt superhero Homelander (Antony Starr).

The most important new additions to the fourth season include Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (dusk And Blair Witch Star Valorie Curry).

While the former is “the smartest person in the world,” Firecracker is a right-wing influencer, podcaster, and radical figurehead from America’s Deep South. If that last part sounds familiar or reminds you of someone in particular, that’s because it is.

Kripke revealed that his inspiration for the character was Donald Trump fan Greene, the representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kripke said: “It’s like (politicians) Marjorie Taylor Greene (and) Lauren Boebert.

“When we wrote it, we didn’t have (South Dakota governor) Kristi Noem in mind, but then she comes out and shoots puppies, and it’s like saying, ‘There’s Firecracker, she’s literally shooting puppies.'”

In her recently published autobiography, Noem detailed how she shot her “untrainable” and “dangerous” wire-haired pointer, Cricket, whom she described as a trained killer. “It wasn’t a pleasant job,” she wrote. “But it had to be done… I hated that dog.”

Noem, a possible running mate for Trump in November’s presidential election, said she was telling the story to illustrate her willingness to do “difficult, messy and ugly” things when necessary, both in politics and in life.

Aside from being Trump’s (presumably) unpaid PR guru, Greene has tried to oust Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson over his transgender policies, made “sensationalist” claims about abortion, and even told journalist Emily Maitlis to “fuck off” when asked about conspiracy theories.

She also called the January 6 insurrection attempt an “objection,” wished it had been “successful,” mocked the future orgasms of a 10-year-old trans girl, and was criticized by Fox News for “destroying” the Republican Party.

Kripke said that “that personality type” served as inspiration for many of the villains (and their supporters) in season four.

“There was Trump, but now we have this Trump brood trying to outdo (each other) in how outrageous and sexualized they are, how armed they are and how slavishly obedient they are.

“It wouldn’t just start and end with Homelander, he would create these spores that would create these other characters, and she’s a version of that.

“The show is not subtle. It wears its politics on its sleeve. And it’s funny to criticize the insanity on the right, and we get some shots on the left of all the performative wokeness and everything.”

Kripke, who recently announced that season five would be the last, previously spoke about season four, saying he had no time for complaints about the show being “woke.”

“I clearly have a perspective and I’m not afraid to bring that perspective to the show. Anyone who wants to call the show ‘woke’ or whatever, that’s fine. Go watch something else,” he told Variety.

“I’m certainly not going to be considerate or apologetic about what we do. Some people think Homelander is the hero. What do you say to that? The show has a lot of things going for it. Subtlety is not one of them. If that’s the message you’re getting, then I’ll just give up.”

Season four of The young was released on Prime Video last week. New episodes are released weekly. Seasons 1-3 are also streaming.
