West Michigan cleanup project begins after holiday weekend

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – The Ottawa County Road Commission will begin repaving roads after the Fourth of July holiday weekend, which may cause minor delays for motorists.

Work in Grand Haven Township is expected to begin the week of July 8, the highway department said.

Crews will begin repavement of Lincoln Street from US 31 to Lakeshore Drive.

The focus of the project will be to mill the existing asphalt and add two-foot-wide paved shoulders to achieve a new road width of 28 feet. Crews will also resurface the road with two layers of new asphalt and completely rehabilitate the gravel shoulders.

The road will remain open to through traffic during construction. However, traffic will be maintained through temporary lane closures under flag control during work hours.

The Highway Authority advises drivers to expect possible delays when traveling through the area during project times.

The work is expected to last until the end of July. All work is weather dependent and completion dates are subject to change, the road commissioners said.
