Women’s Resource Center appoints new CEO

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A new director has taken the helm of the Women’s Resource Center to continue empowering women and foster community support.

Trudy Ender became CEO of the nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and empowering West Michigan women to succeed in their careers and achieve economic independence in June. Former CEO LaSandra Gaddy resigned in February to become president and CEO of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation.

Ender previously served as human resources generalist for MCPc, a Cleveland-based information technology company that made Grand Rapids its new headquarters in 2022. Prior to that role, she worked for several organizations, including executive director of the Humane Society of West Michigan, the Refugee Education Center and Susan G. Komen Michigan.

Last month, the Women’s Resource Center Board expressed confidence that Ender’s experience and vision would take the WRC to new heights.

“We are thrilled to welcome Trudy to our team,” said Roya Bruce, chair of the board of directors, in a press release. “Her leadership skills and passion for our mission will undoubtedly advance WRC and enrich the lives of countless women in our community.”

According to officials, Ender has extensive experience leading three nonprofit organizations in West Michigan and has consistently demonstrated a commitment to social justice, community involvement and excellent leadership skills.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to join the Women’s Resource Center as its new CEO,” Ender said in a statement in June. “I am honored to lead this organization into its next chapter, building on its strong foundation and exploring new avenues of empowerment and advocacy.”

WRC is a vital part of the community, offering a range of services including computer classes, resume coaching and scholarship programs. The leadership change comes as a result of a $2 million capital campaign to renovate its new headquarters at 816 Madison Ave. SE. The nonprofit has received over $800,000 in donations from the community.

Under Ender’s leadership, the center aims to expand its reach and improve its programs to meet the changing needs of local women, the company said.

“This organization has a remarkable history of positively impacting the lives of women and their families, and I am eager to contribute to its continued success,” Ender said in the press release. “I look forward to working closely with WRC’s amazing clients, dedicated staff, passionate volunteers and invaluable partners. Together, we will continue to create opportunities for growth, healing and empowerment and ensure that every woman we serve has the resources and support she needs to succeed.”
