Chris Jericho presents professional wrestling to the whole world with a unique pitch

Chris Jericho has come up with a plan to showcase professional wrestling on a global level.

The AEW star has been known for thinking outside the box both individually and for the wider roster throughout his career. In addition to his many personas and catchphrases, the FTW Champion was also involved in the creation of WWE’s “Money in the Bank” pun, which is still used to this day.

Jericho believes professional wrestling could have its place as an Olympic event. While legitimate amateur wrestling competition is a staple of nearly every iteration of the sporting event, professional wrestling has been left out because it is preordained. However, according to Jericho, there could be a loophole.

“I started thinking seriously about how professional wrestling could easily become an Olympic sport, since it is a sporting performance between two people, similar to figure skating or synchronized swimming or anything else that is scored on points.”

Jericho added that it would work if the best wrestlers from each country competed against each other and the result of the fight did not affect the judges’ score:

“Think about it. So let’s say I’m from Canada. Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, the best wrestlers from Canada. We put together our routine, and then you have Will Ospreay and Michael Oku from England. They put together their routine.

Then you met Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson from the USA, who put together their routine. Then the judges said, “Okay, that was the best. It doesn’t matter who wins or loses. Just like in figure skating.”

Although Jericho has received countless awards and won many championships in his career as a professional wrestler, many would hardly believe him capable of winning an Olympic medal. However, stranger things have happened in the world of wrestling…
