Munster Mash Trick is repeated in the Meadows Pop-Up series

Washington, PA — Munster Mash Trick claimed his second consecutive Pop-Up Series victory on Friday (July 5) at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Also winning $10,000 divisions in the event for young stallion and gelding trotters were LT Loverboy, Battle Hill and Twofiftychamp, who won his first race in a best time of 1 minute, 57 seconds.

Munster Mash Trick pulled the bag down behind but could not shake off the tenacious Rose Run ATM, who was called upon three times during the mile. But the Father Patrick-Munster gelding stood up for Brady Brown and held his rival by a neck in 1:59.1, with Bell Hall in third.

Pop-Up Series – 2-year-old trotting fillies

Friday’s card also included the second leg of a pop-up series for young trotting fillies, with Blueberry, Brink Street and Mocha Hill taking home the $10,000 split purse. Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. and trainer Rom Burke secured a pop-up one-two with Brink Street and Mocha Hill.

Blueberry prepared for Friday’s race, so to speak, by finishing a respectable third in a $79,399 Pennsylvania Sires Stake race. The impact of the drop in class was clear to see, as Blueberry thwarted Tacky Sugar’s late attempt to beat her by 1.5 lengths in 1:58.1 for Brian Zendt. Dianne Hanover completed the ticket.

Doug Snyder trains Blueberry, a daughter of Father Patrick-Perfect Image, for Geraldine Poerio.

Dave Palone collected three wins in the 13 races.

Live racing at The Meadows continues on Saturday (July 6) when the program includes a $399.77 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (race four), with first start at 12:45 p.m.
