Stephen King praises “badass” Jeremy Renner’s Paramount+ series

Mayor of Kingstown receives major recognition from acclaimed author Stephen King following the success of its third season. King also praised lead actor Jeremy Renner’s “badass” performance in the Paramount crime drama.




King expressed his thoughts on his X (formerly Twitter) after Mayor of Kingstown. Although he admits he has “no idea” what happens in the series, King showered it with praise, He insists that he “loves” it and compares it to The shield And Sons of AnarchyKing also praised Renner’s performance as lead character Mike McLusky and his efforts given that he is still recovering from his much-publicized snow plowing accident in January of last year.

Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 marks Renner’s return to acting after he suffered a broken leg, blunt chest trauma and other serious injuries when his rogue snowplow crushed him after he tried to save his nephew. The transition back to a full-time acting schedule hasn’t been easy for Renner, who admitted that the show’s creatives expressed doubts about his return given the extent of his injuries. Although Renner is enjoying his time back Mayor of Kingstownwhich was renewed for a third season last September while he was recovering, the Oscar-nominated actor said he “didn’t have the energy” to play more challenging roles. Renner’s performance in season 3 was praised. In addition to acting, Renner also worked as a stuntman during the production of season 3.

Renner plays the lead role in Mayor of Kingstown alongside Emma Laird, Tobi Bamfeta and the co-creator of the series Hugh Dillon, who created the show together with Yellowstone Idea by Taylor Sheridan. The show’s durability looks promising, and Dillon recently hinted that it will run for several more seasons if he and Sheridan have their way.

In the meantime, another book by King is being made into a film The Institute has recently landed as a miniseries at MGM+. The show shows Shadows and Bones Alumnus Ben Barnes in a co-leading role.
