Barcelona must sacrifice players with a market value of 50 million euros to sign Nico Williams

It is becoming increasingly clear that Nico Williams is Barcelona’s top priority for this summer’s transfer window. Can Barca officials are keen to sign the 21-year-old winger, who had a very impressive Euro 2024 campaign with Spain, but the problem is that they cannot afford to sign him at the moment.

Athletic Club does not want to negotiate, so to get the player Barcelona would have to pay his €58 million release clause. At the moment this is impossible, but through sales it could be possible later in the summer.

Cadena SER says that the player Barcelona would most likely sacrifice to sign Williams is Raphinha. The 27-year-old would not be a regular on either wing if Williams were to join, so to raise money, he would be someone who would not hurt club officials too much.

Raphinha’s market value is €50 million, but Barcelona would probably demand at least €70-80 million to sell him. They would get the money from Saudi Arabia, although Raphinha has no intention of going to the Middle East – if he does go, it will be to return to the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see how Barcelona perform in the market in the coming weeks. There is no doubt that they will try for Williams but unless a big sale happens, it would be a very difficult deal.
