Mark, 60, shared a photo of himself on stage, standing behind a microphone and holding his guitar.

He smiled and pointed his finger at the camera.

The “Ol’ Country” singer’s caption, however, was much more serious, as it detailed the heart problem he experienced on Sunday that led to his hospitalization and emergency surgery.

Mark then announced that he would no longer be able to perform at his upcoming concerts.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows. I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and the fans for their understanding, prayers and support and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky-tonk near you,” the songwriter’s statement reads.

FANS’ WISHES

Fans flooded in with comments and wished Mark a speedy recovery.

“OMG – please get well soon and don’t rush your recovery,” urged one person.

“I am praying for Mark and those close to him,” said another.

“I’m so relieved this post didn’t end the way I imagined it would! Praying for your full and speedy recovery,” wrote a third.

“May you get well soon and feel great again!!,” added a fourth.

Mark was scheduled to perform in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Friday and in George West, Texas on Saturday.

Before the health setback, he was preparing for a tour of the USA this summer.

The Texan native was also scheduled to perform at Dauphin’s Countryfest 2024 in Canada on Sunday, June 30.

Mark’s website has yet to be updated to reflect any cancellations.

The Brother Jukebox singer has been suffering from health problems for quite some time, with his team announcing in November 2023 that he was undergoing a medical examination.

Mark further explained his condition in an Instagram post.

“EXTREME HEALTH PROBLEMS”

“To my family, friends, fans and the country music community… Many of you who know me well know that I am fighting a battle that I have tried to overcome alone for many years,” the singer began.

“After some extreme health problems that I have had recently, the time has finally come. The fight is over.”

Mark is an icon in the world of country music with dozens of top ten hits – eight of which reached number one – on the Billboard Hot Country charts.

Since 2002 he has recorded mainly for independent labels.
