Chris Brown may be in the midst of his global “The 11:11 Tour”, but that doesn’t mean he can’t stop by the club. On Friday (July 5), a video of the singer jamming out to Usher’s “Nice & Slow” surfaced online, prompting many social media users to ask, “Why couldn’t he do the tribute?”

Since the BET Awards 2024Several fans and fellow musicians criticized the ceremony because of the lack of men who Confessions Artists at the tribute performance before his acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Notable artists include Victoria Monét, Teyana Taylor, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Chlöe Bailey and Tinashe, who took the stage on Sunday (June 30).

“He and Ciara could have done it since they had the women,” someone wrote under The Shade Room’s repost. Another person referred to the “Under The Influence” singer reported brawl with Ush in 2023. “Usher and Chris have already said there is no falling out between them, so I don’t understand why you are pushing for this,” they wrote.

“This could have been the tribute but nope we have Keke Palmer in some clothes from Plato’s closet,” another user wrote. “I’m so upset he wasn’t the ONE to do the tribute!! I wouldn’t have even wanted it if he couldn’t be (a part of) the legacy,” another fan responded.

On Wednesday (3 July) Mario reacted to the female-led tribute in an interview with TMZ. “If it had been men, it would have been good, but the women rocked it. All the ladies rocked it,” he said. When asked if he should have been nominated, the singer replied, “Absolutely, I would have rocked it. It definitely would have been awesome. I saw people tagging me and stuff.”

Eric Bellinger expressed a similar sentiment: “I was like, ‘Where are the Kings?’ Tank was in the building, Tyrese was in the building, Vedo was in the building, I was in the building.”
