Convention Center expanded, Stadium Club sold

Convention Center expanded, Stadium Club sold

New construction is underway in Billings’ southwest corridorright in front of the Billings Hotel and Convention Center, on Mullowney Lane. Curious what it could be? It’s a brand new, bigger and better convention center at the BHCC. The addition will create 15,500 square feet of convention space with state-of-the-art technology.

The room features audio/video equipment with video and live streaming capabilities, four screens, a 5.5 to 7.5 meter high stepped ceiling and two partition walls.

The room is expected to be ready by the end of the year, just a few months from now. I know it’s true, it’s already July. I’d better enjoy the summer sun before sweater weather sets in again. I digress.

“This addition provides Billings with a new space that can accommodate groups and meetings that were previously not possible in Billings,” said General Manager and Co-Owner Jase Muri. “We can host a dinner for up to 1,200 people. We have numerous first-time groups booked for 2025, 2026 and 2027!”

Construction will also take place elsewhere in the city at some point. A The landmark of Heights, the Stadium Club, has been sold to the Black Hills Credit Union. The Stadium Club has served many different purposes in the decades it occupied the property on Main Street, but was primarily a casino, bar and grill.

Real estate agent Tedd Sherman, who was marketing the property, even recalled that it was home to a miniature golf course years ago. Sherman said that over the year the property was on the market, there were numerous takers of the property, including car washes (quiet, I hear your grumbling from here), tire manufacturers, a couple of churches and parties that wanted to use it as a casino. But alas, the credit union prevailed.

“It’s a great location with a lot of land and a good-sized building,” Sherman told the Gazette. “A great property. I sell a lot of bars and casinos. That’s why they chose me.”

Local entrepreneur Tera Pierce and her family have owned the Stadium Club since 2009. Pierce said they decided to close the Stadium Club to become one business and focus on The Den sports bar in the West End, which has been in the family for over 60 years. The decision to sell the Stadium Club came after Pierce and her husband took over ownership of The Den five years ago.

While some family businesses stand the test of time, others close abruptly and consumers wonder why. That was the case with Bull Mountain Grille in the Heights when it unexpectedly closed a few weeks ago. Since then, that storefront has seen a lot of activity. The now-vacant 3,600-square-foot restaurant space was recently advertised as available for lease.

The owner is asking $5,250 to $8,250 a month plus utilities. This looks like a sell-it-all situation, as all the furniture and appliances are for sale too. That’s not all the people though, according to their Facebook post they are even willing to install a drive-through window for an additional fee. In the meantime, we’re on the lookout for potential renters.
