Bryce Dallas Howard praises Argylle’s “spectacular” action scenes

Argylle’s Bryce Dallas Howard has praised the action sequences in her latest film.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn (“Kingsman”), “Argylle” is a spy blockbuster that follows the unexpected exploits of reclusive author Elly (Howard), whose stories about globe-trotting secret agents begin to spill over into her own life.

This of course paves the way for some great set pieces, as Howard said Digital Spy in an exclusive interview.

“(Vaughn) works so closely with Brad Allan, one of the greatest action directors of all time, and he choreographed all these incredible sequences,” she began.

“It was just incredible to see everything they planned. Brad died, unfortunately, but Matthew took care of him and I think that’s one of the reasons why the action scenes are all the more spectacular.”

Her co-star Sam Rockwell, who plays undercover spy Aidan on screen, further admitted that he initially “didn’t fully understand” the film’s dance and fight scenes until he saw the finished version.

For Knight and Wyatt actors Bryan Cranston and John Cena, Argylle presented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with a filmmaker at the peak of his career.

“You hear that Matthew Vaughn is making a new movie, and I’m already in it,” said the former DS. “He called me and asked me if I wanted to be part of it. I read the script, I liked the role and I really liked the story.

“I think the film is very gripping, entertaining, adventurous, funny and hilarious. It really has everything and also the boldness that is Matthew Vaughn’s trademark when it comes to his shooting style.”

Cena, a huge Kingsman fan, revealed: “When the opportunity to be part of Argylle came up, I may have chased Matthew, but he gave me a chance and I was very grateful for that.”

Argylle will be released in UK cinemas tomorrow (February 1) and in US cinemas the day after, before streaming worldwide on Apple TV+.
