Love Island star Jack Fowler says he feared for his life after suffering an allergic reaction during a flight.

“I can’t believe I have to post this,” Jack, 28, wrote on Instagram on Monday, June 17, sharing pictures from his recent hospital stay. “I’m posting this because people should know how bad food allergies can be.”

The reality star said he agreed to eat a chicken dish on board a plane after a flight attendant told him the dish did not contain nuts. Jack trusted the airline employee and started eating his chicken curry dish before things took a turn for the worse.

“Immediately my throat closed and I had an extremely hard time breathing,” he recalled. “I told a flight attendant that I couldn’t breathe and asked if there were any nuts in the food. I was told AGAIN that there were no nuts in the chicken curry.”

I told the flight controller, ‘If you don’t land this plane soon, I’m going to die on this plane.’ The pilot then accelerated the flight.”

After the plane landed, Jack was taken to Dubai Airport Hospital where he received further treatment. Although he is feeling better today, Love Island Games Champion shares his story in the hope that other airlines will take food allergies more seriously.

“@emirates this is not good enough,” he wrote, criticising the airline he flew with during his health scare. “I hope all airlines and cabin crew reading this post take note. We board your flights and trust the cabin crew to help us have a safe flight. You better take care of yourselves.”
