When will Celine Dion sing again? How is Celine Dion? – Deseret News

After canceling several tour dates, Céline Dion announced in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with an extremely rare neurological condition – stiff person syndrome – which resulted in an extended break from the stage.

Will Dion ever make a comeback? According to the singer, she intends to return to the stage.

“I’m going to get back on stage, even if I have to crawl,” Dion told Today’s Hoda Kotb. “Even if I have to talk with my hands, I’m going to do that… not just because I have to or because I need to. But because I want to and I miss it.”

The six-time Grammy winner said she trains “like an athlete” to cope with her disorder.

“Five days a week I do sports, physical and voice therapy. I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, my voice,” Dion told Vogue France in April.

When will Celine Dion sing again?

Dion is determined to sing again – she refuses to let her illness “control her life,” Dion told Today.

“I’m going to go on stage because I’m ready. And my vocal cords aren’t going to scare me because I’m going to be ready and hit the notes.”

So when will Dion be ready to perform again?

At the premiere of her documentary “I Am: Celine Dion” in June, the singer told the New York audience, according to People: “I hope to see you all again very soon.”

However, the singer has not announced a timetable for her possible return.

“As things stand, I can’t stand here and tell you, ‘Yes, in four months.’ I don’t know… My body will tell me,” Dion told Vogue France.

“On the other hand,” she continued, “I don’t want to just wait. It’s morally hard to live from day to day. It’s hard, I work very hard and tomorrow will be even harder. Tomorrow is a new day. But there is one thing that will never stop and that is the will. It’s the passion. It’s the dream. It’s the determination.”

What is stiff person syndrome?

According to Yale Medicine, stiff person syndrome is “an autoimmune and neurological disorder that can cause muscles in the trunk and limbs to alternate between stiffness and spasm.” Stiff person syndrome is rare and the cause is still unknown.

Symptoms include painful cramps and progressive muscle stiffness that can be triggered by sudden movements and loud noises, Deseret News previously reported.

When Dion announced her diagnosis in 2022, she said, “The spasms affect every aspect of my daily life. Sometimes they make it difficult for me to walk and don’t allow me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, there is no known cure for stiff person syndrome. Treatments such as therapy and some medications can help relieve symptoms.
