BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – Throw Dat Dirt, 11890 Gibbens Road, is an outdoor experience in Baton Rouge that is fun for all ages.

The venue has basketball courts, picnic tables, a stage for live music, and most importantly, trails where you can bring your own ATV or rent one.

Stephanie and Lewis Allen are the founders of Throw Dat Dirt, a family-run ATV facility near the Baton Rouge airport. They said it all started with a search for an outdoor activity for their teenage sons.

“I looked around and didn’t see anything in the area. I didn’t see anything that would require an off-road vehicle, and we didn’t have one,” said Stephanie Allen.

The Allens said this is a place where memories are documented.

“We want the families to have positive memories, so one of the things we do is take photos of them throughout the trip,” said Lewis Allen.

It is also a place where exclusivity and security are top priorities

“We’re reservations only, so it’s never going to be crowded. It’s never going to be crowded, you’ll never have to wait for your ride,” Stephanie Allen said.

The experience begins with an orientation and safety briefing, including lessons on how to use the off-road vehicles.

“Please remember that these off-road vehicles are not toys. They are very powerful vehicles,” said Stephanie Allen.

Once you’re done with that, the riding can begin.

According to their website, visitors can choose from several packages, including a one-hour rental of an ATV and helmet for $80.

“Depending on the size of your group, we might bring a food truck, a band or a DJ. We tailor the experience to your group,” said Stephanie Allen.

If you are not interested in driving off-road vehicles, the company always opens its doors for various events.

“We did a second line event with a marching band and they were phenomenal and the park was packed. Our goal is to make our own community a safe and decent place to live,” said Lewis Allen.

Throw Dat Dirt is open Thursday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.
