The Grand Terrace Lions Club recently donated a pallet truck and other equipment to Inland Harvest, an Inland Empire nonprofit that collects excess food from various organizations and distributes it to facilities that provide food to those in need.

The donation was made possible by a hunger relief donation of $484 from the California Lions Foundation, according to a press release.

In addition to the pallet truck, the donation also included a convertible hand truck and work gloves for Inland Harvest volunteers. The pallet truck and hand truck will help simplify the transportation and distribution of large quantities of food at Inland Harvest, while the gloves will assist the volunteers handling the food.

“This new equipment will greatly facilitate our food distribution processes,” said Cindy Geers, president of Inland Harvest, in the press release. “We can now distribute food more efficiently and safely, ensuring our community receives the support it needs.”

Each week, Inland Harvest distributes more than 40,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables and other food items to over 50 community organizations, including food banks, food pantries, churches and homeless shelters, the release said. This food helps an estimated 15,000 families each week.

The Grand Terrace Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, a global service organization dedicated to improving communities through humanitarian assistance. The Grand Terrace Club supports projects including vision care, youth and senior services, hunger relief and other community programs.
