Wimbledon 2024, July 5, live updates: Alcaraz trails Tiafoe in third round; Badosa beats Kasatkina

Defending champion and number 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz will face number 29 seed American Frances Tiafoe in the third round of the men’s singles on Friday on the fifth day of Wimbledon 2024 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) in London.

World number one and top seed Jannik Sinner from Italy will face Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in his third round match.

12th seed American and Queen’s champion Tommy Paul advanced to the fourth round with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win over 23rd seed Kazakh Alexander Bublik.

In the women’s singles, seventh-seeded Italian Jasmine Paolini, French Open runner-up and finalist, made it to the round of 16. She defeated Canadian Bianca Andreescu 7:6(4), 6:1. Spaniard Paula Badosa beat 14th-seeded Russian Daria Kasatkina 7:6(6), 4:6, 6:4.

Second seed Coco Gauff will face local qualifier Sonay Kartal in the third round.
