Chiefs News: Travis and Jason Kelce talk about Taylor Swift’s tour

The The Kansas City Chiefs Superstar tight end Travis Kelce and his older brother – the former Philadelphia Eagles Center Jason Kelce – host a weekly podcast called “New Heights.” The title is an homage to the Cleveland Heights neighborhood where they grew up.

If you are not active on social media and do not have anyone in your life who is active on social media, and those people do not have anyone active on social media either, then you may have missed the potential highlight of the offseason: Travis taking the stage at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium.

Plus, the Kelce Brothers recap Beer Bowl II – and talk about their feelings about the Fourth of July and tattoos in foreign languages.

1. To tattoo or not to tattoo…

There are many reasons why people get tattoos. Decorating one’s body with permanent art has been part of human culture since time immemorial. In some societies, tattoos have deep religious and spiritual meaning – for others, they are a way to express themselves or to commemorate a person, place or time that meant a lot to them. And for some people, a calf-sized tattoo of Jason and Travis Kelce’s beer company, Garage Beer, on their leg is just the ticket for $50 in freebies.

When Travis saw this, he said he felt responsible for the success of Garage Beer, so this guy had no remorse.

“Now we have to take Garage Beer to the damn moon so he doesn’t regret it.”

A woman attending Beer Bowl II in Sea Aisle, New Jersey, asked Jason to sign her arms so she could have the tattoo inked on her body. Jason obliged, and the woman got the tattoo.

When Jason saw the finished product, Travis gave him a hard time and criticized his older brother’s handwriting.

“Didn’t you do a great job, Jason? It looks like a little kid scribbled on it.”

2. Travis is in his performing era

Last week, Travis made his debut as a character in a skit at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert. Travis said appearing on the show was originally his idea.

“I first mentioned it to Tay: How fun would it be if I just rolled off on one of the motorcycles in 1989?”

But he also admitted that he didn’t trust himself to ride a bike on stage without hitting something; luckily, Swift had a different role in mind for her “Paramore.”

“She found the perfect part of the show for my performance.”

Travis describes it like this in his sketch: “They’re trying to bring Taylor back to life… and they know that even with a broken heart, she can do it.”

Travis lifts Swift up, carries her limp body in his arms and lays her on a nearby sofa.

“It’s such a fun and playful part of the show,” Travis said.

Swift and Travis weren’t the only performers onstage in the skit with ties to the Chiefs organization. Dancer and choreographer Kameron N. Saunders, who also appears in the skit, is the older brother of former Chiefs and two-time Super Bowl champion defensive tackle Khalen Saunders. His little brother isn’t Kameron’s only connection to the area. Kameron also attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.

3. “Don’t drop the baby”

Although it seemed like his performance on stage in front of the crowd of screaming Swifties was easy, Travis revealed that there was only one thing on his mind the entire time he was wearing Swift.

“Listen, I always told myself not to drop the baby,” Travis revealed. “Don’t drop Taylor when you drive over that damn couch.”

To underscore his feelings, Travis quoted his former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

“Bieniemy always said: ‘In this ball are our dreams, goals and wishes. You must not drop the ball.'”

Luckily for Travis, he didn’t drop the baby or abandon his girlfriend. Instead, he took on the bigger stage of his life with flying colors.
