Kendrick Lamar announces a new song in the video “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar has decided to make the Fourth of July, normally a day when there is little new in the music world, all his own by releasing his new video, “Not Like Us.” One of the most notable things about the new video is that it actually starts with a teaser for a new song.

The first 20 seconds of the video are dedicated to the teaser. The lyrics of the new snippet read: “I’m… reborn, I was stargazing / Life goes on, darling, all my babies / I woke up and looked for the broccoli / Hotkey, hold the horn on me, this is Kamasi / IP ownership, the blueprint is mine / Mister, get off, I’m getting off at my feet.”

“Kamasi” is a reference to Kamasi Washington, the saxophonist and long-time collaborator of Lamar.

It is currently unclear what the name of the song the snippet is from (or if there is even a full song) or if/when it will be released.

Elsewhere in the video, Lamar is said to be going all out on Drake (which is understandable, since this is a Drake diss track), and he smashes an owl piñata and gives the disclaimer, “DISCLAIMER: NO OWLS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO.” The video also ends with Lamar walking away from a caged owl in a dark room, which can really only be interpreted as an attack on Drake.
