Woman drowns in Lake Conroe, two people, including her husband, arrested for drunk boating

WILLIS, Texas – A woman died and two men, including her husband, are behind bars Thursday night after authorities said they drove a boat on Lake Conroe while drunk.

According to Montgomery County Lake Police Precinct 1, it was just after 9 p.m. when officers received a call about people in the water at Lake Conroe. Responders, with assistance from Texas Game Wardens, found two men in the water and pulled them to safety.

Investigators said the two men were operating two different boats, one of which was a pontoon boat. From the pontoon boat, a 31-year-old unidentified woman fell into the lake. Two men and an unidentified woman jumped in to rescue her but were unable to find her. Investigators later identified the two men as Shane Annboli, 44 (her husband) and Kyle Macmeekin, 29.

Moments later, they had difficulty finding the other woman who had jumped to help, but emergency crews were able to locate her about an hour later. At around 11 p.m., divers from the North Montgomery County Fire Department found the woman who had fallen overboard dead in the water.

Both Annboli and Macmeekin were later arrested and charged with drunken driving. Both are being held without bail.

At the time of this writing, no further information has been released, but Montgomery County officials are continuing their investigation.
