Guardians, San Francisco Giants series preview, pitching duels

CLEVELAND, Ohio – This is a preview of the three-game series between the Guardians and Giants.

Where: Progressive Field, Friday to Sunday.

Television/Radio: Bally Sports Great Lakes, WTAM, WMMS, WARF and the Guardians radio network will broadcast the game.

Pitching duels and starting times: RHP Tanner Bibee (7-2, 3.47) vs. TBD on Friday at 7:10 p.m.; LHP Logan Allen (8-4, 5.75) vs. TBD on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. and RHP Carlos Carrasco (3-6, 5.21) vs. RHP Hayden Birdsong (1-0, 4.66) Sunday at 1:40 p.m.

Series: The Guardians have lost eight of their last ten games against the Giants. The Giants lead 15-6 overall.

Giants Update: The Giants entered Thursday night’s game against the Braves having won six of their last eight games. Last year, they went 2-1 against the Guards. LaMonte Wade hit .545 (6 for 11) with two RBI against Cleveland last year. This year, Matt Chapman leads the Giants with 11 home runs and 40 RBI.

Guardians Update: They just won a 2-1 series against the White Sox, but have lost five of their last eight games. Jose Ramirez batted .308 (4 for 13) with a home run and two RBIs last year and Josh Naylor batted .286 (4 for 14) with a home run and three RBIs against the Giants. Bibee will face the Giants for the first time in his career.
