Man United captain Bruno Fernandes talks to surprise club about summer transfer after Euro 2024

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes will reportedly talk to a possible new club after the end of Euro 2024.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is reportedly in talks with a surprise club about a transfer after Euro 2024.

Fernandes is arguably United’s most important player. The captain scored ten goals and provided eight assists in the last Premier League season.

However, there has been speculation that the Portuguese international could move away from United in the summer.

Fernandes himself even hinted at a departure when asked about his future in May: “It obviously doesn’t just depend on me, does it?”.

There is reportedly a lot of interest from the Saudi Pro League, who are keen to recruit even more top players.

And a new report by journalist Rudy Galletti, writing for TEAMtalk, claims that Fernandes is willing to consider offers from Saudi Arabia.

There is a proposal on the table from top Saudi politicians and Fernandes has apparently informed those responsible that he will listen to their offer after the 2024 European Championship.

Fernandes is currently participating in the final in Germany with Portugal and will be part of the team that faces France in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Saudi Arabia’s interest, particularly that of the Public Investment Fund, dates back to November 2023, when the first notification was made.

There is also interest from FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but Saudi Arabia is exerting “strong pressure” and the upcoming meeting with the negotiator is seen as an “important step”.

Fernandes still has a contract until 2026 and it is assumed that he would still prefer to stay at Old Trafford.

However, the money on the table could be tempting as Fernandes will soon be 30 years old.

In May, Fernandes told The Players’ Tribune about his situation: “I love performing at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. It’s always been my biggest dream.”

“I just want my expectations to match the club’s expectations. If you talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to play in the league. We want to play Champions League football. We want to be in the cup final. That’s the standard. That’s what I want. That’s what you all deserve.”

“I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here.”
