SHIFTY SHELLSHOCK

Months before the fatal overdose, I talked about abstinence

The late frontman of Crazy Town Shifty Shellshock was sober and happy a few months before his accidental overdose… and seemed determined to stay that way.

TMZ obtained footage from one of Shifty’s last interviews before his sudden death, and he talked about sobriety with Mayra Dias Gomes.

The singer – real name Seth Binzer – was an invited guest at a Rock to Recovery benefit concert at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood last August, but has rarely made a public appearance.

Shifty told Mayra that he was sober, happy and content… and explained that music and his children give his life meaning.

He also said that music has always been his therapy, and joked that recovering addicts make the best artists.

Unfortunately, Shifty could not stay sober … he was found dead last month, and his manager says he died of an accidental overdose after mixing prescription drugs with drugs bought on the street.

As we first reported … Shifty’s friend and sobriety coach, Tim Ryansays he is Living in a tent in MacArthur Park in downtown LA after relapsing and was homeless when he died.
