“Cohort One” featuring Taylor DeShawn on vocals performs today at Weekend Starts

The second season of the free outdoor music series Weekend begins continues today, Friday, July 5th, from 5-7 p.m. with “Cohort One” and special guest Taylor DeShawn, vocals. The group consists of some members of the first class of students on the Black Sacred Music Master’s program. Cohort One includes Marcus Handy (keyboard), Arty Whittenberg (drums) and Joe Broome (vocals).

The series runs every Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. through mid-October at the Lower Ramble, across from the Fayetteville Public Library on West Avenue. Parking is available in the outdoor parking lot south of the Fayetteville Public Library between West Avenue and School Avenue. The concert will take place here. Weekend begins is a collaboration between the City of Fayetteville, the University of Arkansas Department of Music, and Mount Sequoyah Creative Spaces.

The Ramble is the newest part of Fayetteville’s growing arts corridor. Convenient parking is available in all Fayetteville Public Library parking lots. Feel free to bring a picnic, blanket or lawn chairs. As part of the Lower Ramble, Weekend Starts will be held in Fayetteville’s “Outdoor Refreshment Area” so attendees can stop by participating establishments in the designated zone and pick up their favorite beverages to go to enjoy during the event. However, attendees must adhere to the guidelines set out in the Outdoor Refreshment Area.

In the event of inclement weather, updates regarding cancellations or rescheduling will be provided on the City website. We encourage attendees to check for updates prior to the event. For more information, visit Fayetteville Arts and Culture.
